The case of the winter cough
November 15th, 2011 by sueboland
2010 we moved in to our town house in arlington… It was a recently renovated townhouse style condo
Additionally we had a lot of additional work down to it
By the time winter rolled around we caught our typical early Nov colds
But Sue’s cough won’t go away. She spent all winter coughing heavily and feeling exhausted.
She went to the doctor repeatedly convinced she had some sort of brochidous (sp)
She tired every cough suppressant in the book Nothing helped!
Finally Sue was able to get some relief by using an air purifier, a heavy duty air filter and a nasal spray, and by turning off the heat.
Spring 2011 arrived – now we started trying to solve the problem of the cough that stayed all winter
First we thought it was related to the insulation problem. So we had insulation blow in.
We asked around and many people suggested getting the ducts cleaned out. We waited for the summer to see what would happen when we turned on the AC (nothing did)
Finally Nov 2011 rolls around again and we start to use the heat again – the cough returns worst then before
We have a heavy duty air purifier installed onto our furnace
And finally today we had the ducts cleaned out…
Yea the problem was the ducts there was a lot of materials from the renovation and construction
