This is just an overview of Abby’s Daily Activities
General Notes
- Abby is sick and will need to sleep a bit more then usual
- We follow the EASY Schedule – Eat Activity Sleep (You time)
- Abby is allowed to watch sesame street & the singing signing DVD’s
- In the stereo are 2 CD’s of her music
- Abby is not allowed to watch TV or Movies with a lot of cursing, people physically or emotionally abusing other living things, people engaging in risky/ dangerous behavior and fox news
- We don’t keep hard liquor in the house with the baby. The only alcohol allowed is beer and wine – While I can understand the temptation I would rather you did not drink while caring for my baby
- Please remove your shoes in the house – your less likely to damage someone by stepping on them barefoot
- Please be sure to encourage Abby to be active, we want a tired out baby who will sleep through the night not a baby that has been snuggled all day and is ready for action
Notes on Napping:
- Abby typically naps 3 times a day approximately, 9am, 12pm , and 3 pm
- While Abby normally naps in her crib because she is congested she has been napping in our room inclined
- Abby normally naps 30 – 90 mins – wake her up if she sleeps more then 2 hours
- When you put her down for a nap make sure she has a fresh diaper a pacifier and her Dolly
- She naps best on her side
- She should have only one “rolling” nap a day ( a nap in a stroller or car seat aka not her bed)
- She will fuss for a bit sometimes when you put her to bed ten min is ok – thirty min of baby screaming is borderline abuse
Notes on feeding Abby bottles:
- Abby should have only milk in her bottles, no water and absolutely NO JUICE
- Abby gets milk on demand – she can eat as much as she wants as often as she wants, could you imagine someone trying to restrict your beverage intake?
- She likely takes approx 32 oz a day, for the period that I am at work she will likely drink 8-16oz
- When she has a bottle don’t force her to finish it, let her have as little or as much as she would like
- In the schedule I had added roughly about the time she may want some milk – she will signal by fussying (ha ha lucky you) I am also trying to teach her the sign for milk please feel free to use it around her http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPXKI4O-7uI&NR=1
- When you give her a bottle please make sure you have her upright, it is uncomfortable for her to lie flat and drink also she tends to get bubbles (spit up and gas) if she drinks in that position
- When you give her a bottle try to remember to talk to her and make eye contact, meals are social events after all
Notes on feeding Abby solids:
- Currently we are out of any baby foods I make, So only feed her from the jars
- The cabinet with the jarred food is separated by food “stage” the top shelf is stage 1 the bottom self is stage 2
- It will be easier for you to use stage 1 foods, she has had all of them (except for the prunes) and should eat them happily
- Abby prefers to start each meal with apple sauce and also have some apple sauce between courses… she might refuse to open her mouth unless there is apple sauce on the spoon you have been warned!
- Also oatmeal, I will leave a cup or so in the fridge when I leave for work
- Abby will typically eat 6 oz of food and 2-4 oz of water during a meal
- She may stop during a meal that is usually because she would like some water but she could taking a break so you can eat too!
- Please make sure she has a bib on
- Please spray any stained clothes with stain treated and leave in the bucket in the sink
- Please wipe down the high chair & place mat once she is done
- Please clean the table once she is done
- While she eats she is allowed to play with the balloon, one of the tray toys and a plastic baby spoon
- Towards the end of the meal when she is no longer ravenous she will try and feed herself and drink from the sippy cup on her own let her.
Rough Daily Schedule:
- 6am – wake up, milk, refreshing diaper change
- 7am – Active play (bouncer, exerciser, tummy time, play pen)
- 8am – Milk? Breakfast?, after she has breakfast get her dressed for the day and then quite play (books, sesame street)
- Approx 8:30 – 9:30 Start Morning Nap – this is your chance to shower have breakfast
- After the morning nap, she will likely want milk , breakfast if she hasn’t already had it and it will likely be a marathon diaper time, if you want to leave the house you should get everything ready before she wakes up because you are going to have your hands full with diapers and etc
- Approx 11 – 12:30 Start Midday Nap – this is usually the longer nap of the day and it is your chance to get more house work done
- After the Midday nap – milk, diaper change LEAVE THE HOUSE – it’s now or never if you don’t escape the house by 1 then your not going to escape at all today
- Sometime during this period give her lunch,
- likely you will have changed your shirt at least once so far today and have had to mop the floor a little
- Don’t try to vacuum the floor the sound of that and other house hold motors makes Abby hysterical – sweep instead
- Approx 2 – 3:30 – nap
